We invoke the divine blessings on our donors and well-wishers who have contributed their mite for our Seva cum developmental activities, and present this Brief Report of Shri Veera Maruthi Seva Trust, highlighting the possible assistance, both in cash and kind, extended to a few selected, needy institutions and individuals, in and around Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada, in the year 2004-2005 . Needless to say, we seek your suggestions and guidance for further improvement in our four-pronged scheme of Seva, and above all, your unflinching support: “Vidya Shri Yojana” Under this scheme, we selected 100 poor students from both rural and urban areas, and provided them with the necessary books and stationeries so that they can conveniently and confidently prosecute their school studies. “Abhaya Shri Yojana” Under this scheme, we extended financial assistance to an orphanage which is taking care of about sixty orphan boys and girls. It is run by ‘Mangala Seva Samithi Trust’, Kuttarapadavu, Mangalore Taluk. Further, we provided for a month’s expenditure of the ‘Mobility Training Centre for the Blind’, Attavar, Mangalore, which imparts training for more than 100 blind boys and girls, so that they can earn their livelihood independently and confidently. We also helped the ‘Women’s Self-help Group’ run under the auspices of Sri Durga Mahamayi Temple, Shaktinagar, Mangalore. This Women’s Group provides training and promotes self-employment among women, besides attending to children education. “Dharma Shri Yojana” Under this scheme, we extended assistance to ‘Govanithashraya Trust’, Bantwal Taluk, Dakshina Kannada, which takes care of over 200 cows rescued from the local slaughter houses in and around Mangalore, with the help of some Hindu organizations and the Police Department, and given custody through the local courts. ‘Govanithashraya’ also takes care of destitute women, totally neglected and in helpless condition. We provided 15 ceiling fans to the hostel rooms at ‘Govanithashraya’ where presently they do not have such a facility. We have made a partial provision for the construction of a Community Center, with a view to promote Yoga Training, as also cultural, devotional and spiritual activities under our “ Dharma Shri Yojana”. We hope to complete this project with the future contributions from donors. “Raksha Sri Yojana” Under this scheme, we helped in a humble way the mentally challenged children, to give them education and training, and build up confidence in them. For this purpose we selected “Chetanaa”, a developmental centre for the challenged providing therapeutic and educational services at Mangalore. We have made a provision to take care of the medical needs of a few selected senior citizens who had earlier dedicated their life for various service activities. Presently in a helpless condition, they are suffering from the infirmities of old age and various ailments. We have arranged for their monthly medical needs. Incidentally, it may be mentioned here that the President of Shri Veera Maruthi Seva Trust, Sri N. Yogish Bhat, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mangalore constituency, has been taking keen interest, all these years, in the development and maintenance of two important Government Hospitals in Mangalore, where more than 2 lakhs poor patients are getting free medical treatment. Sri Yogish Bhat has been instrumental in successfully upgrading the infrastructure of these Hospitals with the help of the Government of Karnataka and at a cost of Rs. 8 corers. Particularly, in the Lady Goshen Hospital at Mangalore, which is about 150 years old, 4000 delivery cases are attended every year. The dependents of the poor patients, who cannot afford the commercial lodging facilities outside, are now provided with a suitable Guest House facility inside the Lady Goshen Hospital premises, built at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs, by utilizing the MLA / MP Area Development Fund. We have therefore made a humble provision to gift water purifier / cooler to the said Guest House, for the benefit of the dependents of the patients. We have also made a provision for the exigency of the poor and the needy, both young and the elderly, to provide medical facilities and financial assistance towards school fee etc. Our Heartfelt Thanks We have been able to provide succor and help, both in cash and kind, to various institutions and individuals devoted to Seva activities, only because of the kind cooperation and generous contributions received from donors. We therefore heartily thank all of them, and again invoke on them the choicest divine blessings of Lord Hanuman for a prosperous and happy life. May He grant them added inspiration and strength to serve the noble cause with devotion. |
